A new attraction in China is drawing attention for offering tourists the chance to lounge on a bed placed on the edge of a cliff over 320 feet high. Known as the Cliff Bed Experience, the feature is located in Mangshan National Forest Park in Chenzhou and has gone viral for its daring design and unique appeal.
Opened as part of the park’s outdoor adventure package, the cliff bed consists of a wooden platform built into the rock face. It includes a small double air mattress, a duvet, a pillow, and space to set personal items. Despite its name, the bed is not intended for sleeping but is marketed as a place to relax, take photos, and enjoy the scenery.
Visitors are required to wear a safety harness clipped into the cliff wall before accessing the attraction. Only individuals between the ages of 14 and 60 are permitted, with additional restrictions for those under 18, who must be accompanied by an adult. There are also weight and height limits for safety reasons.
The cost of the experience is approximately $13, which includes a free cup of coffee. Guests must complete a health form and take a cable car to reach the site. Since its launch on April 25, the cliff bed has received nearly 400 visitors.
Many guests describe the cliff bed as less frightening than expected, enjoying it mainly for its novelty and photo opportunities. The attraction is part of a broader trend in China of extreme tourism installations that combine natural beauty with adrenaline-pumping experiences.
